My Girls, My Life

"Do you think she (Aimee) looks like MaKatie?" My natural instinct is to tell you no. MaKatie looks like MaKatie and Aimee looks like Aimee. But I've finally pulled some pictures to compare.

MaKatie roughly 2 1/2 months old

MaKatie's stats at 2 months
12 lbs 11 oz (90%)
22 1/8 inches long (40%)

Aimee's stats at 2 months
11 lbs 6 oz (75%)
23 3/4 inches long (92%)

Aimee- almost 2 months old

I look at these pictures and think they are very different. MaKatie was shorter and chunkier, while Aimee is longer and only semi-chunky. But looking at them you can tell we mixed the same genes again. If you compare their eyes, little noses, ears, mouth shape, hair color, etc. They definitely have a resemblance of each other.

Last night after a long busy day in town, we were driving home over Monte Cristo. Both girls were asleep finally! I took in a deep breath and enjoyed the peace and quiet without any part of my dirty house staring back at me. I drove down the road with Quakies lining both sides of the road. For those of you that know me very well know they are my absolute favorite! If I can have green grass, some form of running water, and quakies... it's the most beautiful and peaceful place ever. I could sit in my camp chair and just listen to the leaves and water forever. Mix that with a little Don Williams playing in the background as I drive down the road and it was heaven on earth for me. It's the moments like that with my girls in the back seat and some of God's greatest creations starring me in the face that make life worth it. I love moments like that! Suddenly it didn't matter that I don't have a job to define me or that I'm not miss popularity or the best housekeeper or the most patient mom, etc. Because I have it all in my little simple life. Even if it takes me nine months of pure hell to get our girls here... it's all worth it in the end.

Don't be fooled into thinking that our life is pure bliss, cause its not. If you've heard MaKatie whine, "MOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM" lately you'd know it can try a person's patients faster than you can blink. Or if you saw me taking her by the hand out of the mall food court as she's bawling at the top of her lungs because I wont let her ride the merry-go-round again. Or experienced her asking the same thing over and over thinking that it'll make me change my mind. You will know she challenges me some, okay most, days. But on the other hand, I love watching her become more independent. She's finally figured out how to play by herself and that imagination is fun to watch. Just today she took a Beauty and the Beast puzzle piece with Mrs. Pots on it and rode it as her horse. She's so into colors lately. She asks what everyone's favorite color is and what colors they are wearing and any other question she can come up with about colors. MaKatie is all about the girly things in life too. Painted finger nail and toes, jewelery, make-up, princess hairstyles, shoes, clothes, the works. She may not match when she gets it all done, but you better believe it was all her pickings when she's ready to go.

Aimee was a gift from God. She's pretty mellow and laid back. Only a gift from God can sleep through the night at 5 weeks old. I think its his way of apologizing for the totally miserable pregnancy He threw my way this time. She has a smile that just melts mama's heart every time. Her hands have been discovered and if you don't pay attention, she'll give herself a hickey on her little fists. MaKatie says Aimee's favorite color is purple. And as naughty as it may be, I'm grateful she doesn't feel the best after getting shots yesterday because she's letting me snuggle her right now. Normally she isn't the snuggliest baby. In fact, when she's tired just go lay her down or we'll just fuss and cry until you do. She loves to kick her little legs and wiggle. I've had to start buckling her into her little vibrating seat because she can wiggle enough to get out of it probably.
